Acadia is comprised of a cluster of islands on the Atlantic coast of Maine. Mountains, lakes, streams, wetlands, forests, meadows and beaches are all found within roughly 45,000 acres comprising Acadia. In spite of its relatively small land area, Acadia National Park has an amazing trail system with over 120 miles of trails beckoning for exploration. From family strolls along the rocky coastlines to strenuous and exposed scrambles to the tops of the majestic granite peaks, Acadia has something for everyone.
Plan is to rent two 7-passanger vans and group camp in one of the three group campsites. We will try Blackwood as our first preference when making reservation in 2017. Breakfast will be included in the trip cost. Individuals are responsible for lunch and dinner expenses in local restaurants. All other personal and travel expenses are also individual responsibility.
Bar Harbor International Airport (BHB) is within 10 miles of the park entrance. Next nearby major airport is Portland International Airport (PWM) [make sure NOT Portland, Oregon]. Please arrive before noon on Sept 16, 2017 and plan to meet at Bar Harbor airport by 1pm. Airline travel expense is not included in the club trip cost
Daily activities will include moderate hiking with considerable elevation (over 1000 ft) gains. Based on the group aptitude, a short kayak tour may be made optional using rentals from local outfitters. The cost will be individual responsibility.
