This Saturday we’ll be making a road trip to this state park in southern Indiana. Our plan for the day will be to cover a good section of the park and we’ll hike trails 3, 4, and 5, as well as stop by the Pioneer Village. The terrain is mainly moderate with a couple of steep hills, and we’ll plan to do around 3 hours.
The Spring Mill website (http://www.in.gov/dnr/parklake/2968.htm) for the park is at the DNR site, where you can find a map of the trails. Click “Maps” on the page and then choose “Property Map.”
Admission to the park is $7.
We’ll be meeting in front of the Spring Mill Inn at 11am.
For those interested in food afterwards, we’ll plan to grab some late lunch at the Spring Mill Inn’s restaurant, which offers a buffet.
Car Pool Info: Our car pool will be meeting along the west side of Bishop Chatard High School, which is on the corner of Kessler Boulevard and Crittenden Avenue, at 5885 Crittenden Avenue. The parking along the street is free on Saturdays. We’ll meet on the sidewalk at the school entrance front near the corner and leave at 8:30am.
Please note:
Car pool @ 8:30am
Hike @ 11am
Terrain: Moderate
Length: Around 7.5 to 8 miles; 3 hours
See you Saturday,
Michael
