The Wabash River is a great summertime paddling destination as it's more certain to have a decent water flow during the hot months when other small streams may be dry.
Enjoy a leisurely paddle and a fun day on the White River. The take-out will be near Bonge's restaurant where paddlers will gather for a post-paddlers dinner.
We will have a shoreline cleanup of Eagle Creek on Saturday, September 30th. This is an opportunity to pay back one of our local partners and one of Indianapolis’s premier paddling resources by cleaning up the shores of Eagle Creek reservoir.
This is a scenic trip on the East Fork of the White River ending at Hindostan Falls. It is a 13.5 trip so plan on 6 hours on the river with a lunch stop. This is a good beginner trip; just be confident that you are capable of paddling at least 6 hours straight.
We will have a moonlight paddle at Eagle Creek on Saturday, October 7, 2017 since there is a nearly full (97%) moon on this evening. The sun will set at 7:17 pm and the moon will be rising at 8:55 PM at 75 degree's East North East. Hopefully, we'll have clear skies.
The Blue River is one of every paddler's favorites. IDNR says the Blue River flows through one of the most scenic, interesting and diverse areas of Indiana. In summer it is packed with public rental boats, and so the HCKC is planning it for October when we can enjoy the glory of fall on the Blue to ourselves. It's a 14-mile trip -- be sure you're up for a long day on the river . . .
The Raccoon Creek paddle trip during the Parke County Covered Bridge Festival has been a signature event of the HCKC since its inception. Enjoy an awesome trip on a challenging stream, with lunch riverside along the festival grounds. Hey guys, this is a "don't miss"! Experienced boat navigation skill and cold-water paddling gear required.
The Current River is the most spring-fed of all of the Ozark rivers, running crystal clear through rocky bluffs. This annual trip has been led by paddler Denny Williams for over forty years; no one knows Missouri paddling like Denny ( aka Gatorbait). Gatorbait has graciously included the HCKC in his group for this year. Last year there were fifty attendees. Paddlers stay at the Shannondale Community Center (lodging and camping first-come first serve).
The Miami Nations of Indians of the State of Indiana say: The Seven Pillars, sometimes called simply "The Cliffs", lie about four miles southeast of Peru along the Mississinewa River. This breathtaking formation was created over the centuries as wind and water eroded the limestone, carving rounded buttresses and alcoves into the north bluff of the river. Join the HCKC for this annual early November paddler trip. Cold-weather paddling gear and good boat skills required.
