SUMMARY:MBA -- Easy Backpacking Weekend Trip
DESCRIPTION:This will be more about spending a fun weekend outdoors. We will hike in to the peninsula and set up camp. You can swim\, hike\, lounge for the weekend. If you haven’t been here before\, it’s a primitive site but has several campsites available. I will likely head down early in the day to grab a good site for us. More details to follow but this will be a rain or shine event.

SUMMARY:MBA -- Tecumseh Trail Through Hike
DESCRIPTION:I am planning a through hike of the Tecumseh Trail for June 21st – 23rd. Depending on the number of attendees\, logistics\, and accommodations things may change slightly. I have hiked the entire trail\, but never as one continuous hike. That is the goal. I expect it to be a serious challenge. It will be hot\, humid\, buggy\, ect… everyone will need to be self-sufficient and everyone hikes at their own risk. Weather will not cancel the event\, so plan accordingly. \nCurrent plans are as follows… \nWho: Anyone equipped and capable to travel 42 miles on foot in 3 days.\nWhat: Point to Point through hike. (North to South)\nWhen: June 21 – 23 (might stage cars the 20th and camp in MMSF)\nWhere: MMSF headquarters @ 7am 6/21/19\nWhy: The Challenge\nHow: Preferably as safe as possible \nhttps://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/indiana/the-tecumseh-trail \nDay 1: Trailhead to Fox Den Shelter. This will be close to 15 miles.\nDay 2: Fox Den to Yellow wood Lake. This will be close to 17 miles.\nDay 3: Yellowwood Lake to the Crooked Creek Parking. About 9 miles\nDay 3+: There is an option for another 4 miles to get to the southern end of the trail (2 miles each way) from the parking area. \nStandard Leave no Trace practice is expected. There will be a cost for the campsite(s) at Yellowwood Lake. Sites are cheap and multiple people can be on each site. Current plan is to stage vehicles as the southern terminus. \nHope to see you there.

SUMMARY:MBA -- Fox Den Overnight
DESCRIPTION:This is designed to be a practice / training overnight hike out to the Fox Den Shelter. I have a couple new gear items I want to test before the through hike later in the month. \nThis will be an out and back hike. There are a lot of options for hike distance because of the shortcuts / parking options. I think there is a hike option here for anyone who wants to attend. \nDepending on who signs up and how many miles they want to do\, final plans and timing are TBD. We can either all start at the same place\, all meet at the shelter\, or try to meet along the trail. \nDistances can be 5\, 10\, 12\, or 15 miles.

SUMMARY:MBA -- Red River Gorge Spring Backpacking Trip
DESCRIPTION:Exact route and details TBD\, but wanted to lock in the dates for our next backpacking trip. Here’s what I have in mind: \nDepart Indy at around 8 AM on Friday. Arrive at RRG by about 1 PM. Hike in and camp Friday night. Hike further and camp Saturday night. Finish a loop & drive home Sunday. I’d like to do a loop so we can check out a couple of different campsites and take in some great scenery! Wanted to do it in spring (hopefully) before it gets too hot & humid. \nFor those of you that have been there before\, please feel free to send me your recommendations. I have a couple of ideas as well. I’ll also be looking to setup a meetup at a local brewery in the Indy area to discuss the trip and finalize the plan. More to come! \nRSVP’s will be available until 4/26. I can haul 3 additional people & packs from Indy. \nHit that RSVP button and join us! Details to follow… \nCheers!\nGarrett

SUMMARY:MBA -- Early Spring Overnight Backpacking Trip in Brown County
DESCRIPTION:What’s up everyone? It’s time to get an early spring trip on the calendar… I haven’t solidified the exact location just yet\, but below are a couple of options I’m kicking around. Looking for your feedback or recommendations. \nInstead of trying to do something really ambitious\, I’m hoping to put something together that will appeal to the group and that will get us outside together! That’s also why I’m leaning towards just 1 night vs. 2. Would love your input and if you have other ideas\, speak up! Here are the options I’m currently considering for this one: \nOption 1: Peninsula Trail in Charles C. Deam Wilderness (2 hours south of Indy)\n– Hike the Peninsula Trail and camp by the Lake Monroe. This would be about 10 miles round trip (5 in\, 5 back) with about 800 ft of elevation gain. Possibly some light cross country towards the end of the trail to find the ideal camp spot. Here’s a link for more info: https://www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/indiana/peninsula-trail–3 \nOption 2: Sycamore Loop Trail in Charles C. Deam Wilderness (2 hours south of Indy)\n– There are some great campsites along the creek on the Sycamore Trail. It’s a 6.4 mile loop or it could be done as a shorter out & back\, but I’d prefer to do the loop. There’s only about 500 ft of elevation gain on this hike. Here’s a link for more info: https://www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/indiana/sycamore-loop-trail \nThe plan would be for us to either meet in Indy at around 8 AM or at the trailhead at around 10 AM on Saturday\, 3/23. We’d hike in\, setup camp\, explore the area a little\, get to know each other\, make some awesome camp gourmet\, sit by the fire\, tell camp/backpacking stories\, then hike back out in the morning. \nObviously we have no idea what the weather will be like this far in advance… It could be warm & sunny or it could be a winter trip… Time will tell… Hopefully it isn’t cold and rainy… Anything else is fair game. :) \nHit me up with any questions\, comments\, suggestions\, etc… Also\, spread the word if you have other friends that you think would want to join the group on future backpacking trips & hikes. Thanks everyone! \nGarrett
