SUMMARY:MBA -- Tecumseh Trail Through Hike
DESCRIPTION:I am planning a through hike of the Tecumseh Trail for June 21st – 23rd. Depending on the number of attendees\, logistics\, and accommodations things may change slightly. I have hiked the entire trail\, but never as one continuous hike. That is the goal. I expect it to be a serious challenge. It will be hot\, humid\, buggy\, ect… everyone will need to be self-sufficient and everyone hikes at their own risk. Weather will not cancel the event\, so plan accordingly. \nCurrent plans are as follows… \nWho: Anyone equipped and capable to travel 42 miles on foot in 3 days.\nWhat: Point to Point through hike. (North to South)\nWhen: June 21 – 23 (might stage cars the 20th and camp in MMSF)\nWhere: MMSF headquarters @ 7am 6/21/19\nWhy: The Challenge\nHow: Preferably as safe as possible \nhttps://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/indiana/the-tecumseh-trail \nDay 1: Trailhead to Fox Den Shelter. This will be close to 15 miles.\nDay 2: Fox Den to Yellow wood Lake. This will be close to 17 miles.\nDay 3: Yellowwood Lake to the Crooked Creek Parking. About 9 miles\nDay 3+: There is an option for another 4 miles to get to the southern end of the trail (2 miles each way) from the parking area. \nStandard Leave no Trace practice is expected. There will be a cost for the campsite(s) at Yellowwood Lake. Sites are cheap and multiple people can be on each site. Current plan is to stage vehicles as the southern terminus. \nHope to see you there.

SUMMARY:RR -- Battle Road Biathlon – One Day (Bedford\, IN)
DESCRIPTION:Battle Road Biathlon℠ Overview\nThe Battle Road Biathlon is an entry-level competitive event\, as opposed to an instructional clinic like most other Revere’s Riders events.  It has proven to be a challenging and fun time for men and women ages 13-60+ that  demands precision shooting under physical and mental pressure. Deceptively simple in design\, the course should put the participant in a physiological and psychological state “similar” to the colonial militia units on April 19\, 1775 as they desperately sought to effectively engage the “Lobsterbacks” before they could return to the safety of Boston. \nPrerequisites: Suggested—Rifle 125 or similar class. \nIf you have not attended Rifle 125\, then you should be able to reliably hit a 10 MOA target from the standing position\, a 7.5 MOA target from seated and 4 MOA target from prone and should be familiar with basic operation of your rifle. If you cannot meet the accuracy suggestion then you may be frustrated at this event and be better served learning the fundamentals of marksmanship at a Rifle 125 clinic. \nYou should be in reasonably-good health with the ability to run/hike 3/4 mile segments (x4) over varied unpaved terrain. \nRifle and Ammunition Required: A safe and reliable rifle chambered in .22 LR and 15 rounds of reliable .22 LR ammunition. Bringing extra ammunition is always a good idea! \nRequired Equipment: The following equipment is required to participate: \n\nsafe and reliable .22 LR rifle with sights of your choosing (optics or irons) sighted in at 35m (no other caliber will be permitted due to the exclusive design of our proprietary reactive targets)\nat least one and preferably three magazines for your rifle\nhearing protection\neye protection\nappropriate footwear with toe protection: either running shoes\, trail running shoes or hiking boots are recommended.  Sandals or flip-flops would not be appropriate or safe.\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nlunch (leaving the range for lunch is not feasible)\nsnacks\n\nOptional Equipment: In addition\, the following equipment is recommended for this event but not required: \n\nsling for your rifle (this will be a shooting aid ONLY; you will NOT be running/walking with your rifle)\nshooting mat\nsunscreen\nbug repellant\nhat with a brim\nfolding chair\n\nProhibited Equipment: The following equipment WILL NOT BE ALLOWED at this event: \n\nrifle chambered for any caliber other than .22 LR\n\nEvent Details\nOn April 19th\, 1775\, colonial militia companies from Massachusetts and surrounding colonies mustered and sent men to defend Lexington\, Concord and Menotomy from regular British troops who were attempting to destroy arms and powder of the “rebels” stored in Concord. In order to close with and engage the Redcoats before they could return to the safety of their base in Boston\, militia units had to move with urgency and purpose on Battle Road\, as well as other routes. When they did get within range of the Redcoats\, they had to use practiced marksmanship skills to hit their targets. This event will involve moving with urgency and purpose and then quickly transitioning to controlled breathing (and holding still!) while shooting with an elevated heart and respiratory rate. As on April 19th\, 1775\, only hits count! Competitors will shoot .22 rimfire rifles from three positions; standing\, seated and prone at reactive targets 35 meters (38.28 yards) away. Targets will be in three different sizes: \n\nStanding 4.485″ (12.27 MOA)\nSeated/Kneeling 3.12″ (8.53 MOA)\nProne 1.755″ (4.5 MOA)\n\nShooters/Runners/Walkers will each have an individually-assigned firing point and target. After each stage\, rifles will be cleared\, made safe and grounded at the firing points; you will NOT be running/walking with your rifle. \nCourse of Fire\nYou will use a total of 15 rounds; 3 magazines of 5 rounds each is recommended\, but you may use 1 magazine and load it 3 times with 5 rounds at a time. There will be 4 running/walking loops of 1.25K (3/4 mile) each\, for a total of 5K. It will be the same loop each time. These loops will be on unimproved trails through hilly woods and fields. There may be some natural obstacles such as logs or ditches\, but there will be no climbing or crawling. You may either run or walk. In between each running/walking loop is a shooting stage. The reactive targets\, which are plain black bullseyes\, will be in three rows of five targets in each row. Five shots will be taken in each of the three positions\, one shot per target. You either hit it\, or miss it (“Hits Count!”). The reactive target disks turn from black to white to indicate a hit. After shooting each stage\, and clearing/safing/grounding his/her rifle\, the competitor does a separate approximately 125 meter penalty loop for each miss before going back out on the 1.25K loop. The event will progress in the following manner: \n\nSquad start (competitors will start in squads of 8 at the same time)\nRun/walk 1.25K loop\nShoot unsupported standing one shot at each of five targets (top row)\nClear\, make safe and ground rifle\nRun/walk penalty loop once for each missed target\nRun/walk 1.25K loop\nShoot unsupported seated/kneeling (shooter choice) one shot at each of five targets (middle row)\nClear\, make safe and ground rifle\nRun/walk penalty loop once for each missed target\nRun/walk 1.25K loop\nShoot unsupported prone one shot at each of five targets (bottom row)\nClear\, make safe and ground rifle\nRun/walk penalty loop once for each missed target\nRun/walk 1.25K loop\nFinish\n\nThere will not be any traditional target scoring; either you hit the target or you miss it (“Hits Count!”). Since the penalty for missing is running/walking extra distance\, the winner will be determined by time only. After the last competitor from squad #1 finishes\, the targets will be reset and squad #2 will get ready.  Then\, while squad#2 is on the course\, the competitors from squad#1 are encouraged to stay for the famous Bedford fellowship and to cheer on the other competitors.  However\, participants who have finished are not required to stay for the entire day and may leave if necessary. Depending upon the number of registrants\, we may have up to 3 squads.  For those who stay until the last squad finishes\, we will have an awards ceremony\, pictures and some final brief words by the event director. Here is a video of a previous competitor shooting the seated stage.  This will give you an idea of what to expect from the shooting portion.  Note that this shooter previously scored at the Master level on the Revere’s Riders full distance (100-400 yards) “KD”qualifier! Download practice targets here.  And check out the one minute promo trailer! \nAdditional Event Information\nTicket price includes all range fees. \nAdditional Range Information\nThe Bedford Contingent is South Central Indiana’s Premier Shooting Facility. Located just north of Bedford\, Indiana\, “The BC” features a 300-yd rifle range\, a large\, comfortable fully-enclosed building for meetings\, and is available year-round for public and private events. Primitive camping available (please reserve ahead of time\, donation appreciated)\, porta-potties and potable water on-site.

SUMMARY:RR — Rifle 262 (Field Rifle) – Two Day (Camp Atterbury\, IN)
DESCRIPTION:Rifle 262 (Field Rifle) Overview\nPrerequisites: STRONGLY SUGGESTED — Rifle 125* or previous experience with CMP\, 3-Position Highpower or NRA disciplines. \nIf you cannot consistently hit a 5″ circle at 100 yards WITHOUT the aid of a benchrest\, bipod\, sandbag\, or other stabilizing aid you are not prepared for this event and we strongly suggest you attend a Rifle 125 event prior to participation in Rifle 262.  If you are unfamiliar with the standing/seated/prone positions and sling usage\, you will be frustrated.  If you are physically unable to execute those positions you will be frustrated.  If\, however\, you want to test yourself and your rifle out to 500 yards then this event is absolutely for you.  Material from Rifle 125 will only be briefly reviewed. \nEstimated Ammunition Required: Bring 250-300 rounds/day. It is important that all ammunition be of the same type (i.e. same weight\, manufacturer\, etc) for this event. Our volunteers have identified several accessories that may be helpful at this type of event. \nRifle Requirements: You will need a safe rifle chambered in a centerfire caliber of your preference (we will be shooting at distances beyond the effective range of most rimfire calibers). Please make an effort to get a known zero prior to attending (25 yds or 200 yds preferred\, but any known zero will work).  At the very least\, bore sight your AR-platform or bolt rifle by pulling the bolt and aligning the sighting system with the bore at a mark 25 yards away.  If you are not zeroed\, we will make an attempt to get you there but a good zero will facilitate your learning. \nRequired Equipment: You should plan to bring the following equipment to the event: \n\nsling for your rifle (while a US GI sling will work perfectly well for this event\, many prefer a more easily adjustable sling)\nat least two magazines for your rifle\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)\n\nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nshooting mat (we will be shooting from grass covered berms so a mat is probably not necessary)\nhigh powered binoculars or spotting scope\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nOverview: Rifle 262 is focused on practical shooting under field conditions against targets at a variety of ranges out to 500 yards with qualification opportunities at 100-400 yards. Students will review: \n\nField Shooting to known distances to include target detection\, target identification\, wind compensation and ballistics correction\nCalculation of minutes of angle for precise sight adjustments at all ranges and application to field shooting problems\nData collection (“DOPE”) for shooting to known distances with your rifle and ammo\nField-expedient ranging of targets at unknown distances\nSighting system calibration and repeatability testing\n\nRifle 262 picks up where Rifle 125 leaves off.  Students\, having mastered the fundamentals of marksmanship\, learn to apply their skills out to 500 yards.  Students will have multiple opportunities to challenge the Full Distance Hits Count Qualification Test.  Most importantly\, students will learn the capabilities of their rifle—and themselves. Contact the Event Director prior to registering with questions. Data to provide a starting point on ballistic information can be calculated beforehand using one of the many free or low-cost ballistic calculator apps available for smartphones. \nProfiles of Patriots\nWe will take brief breaks throughout the day to honor George Washington and the men who embraced his leadership while battling for their (and our) Freedom. \nAdditional Event Information\nAll participants must purchase tickets by the DEADLINE of 5:00 PM on 24 May 2019.  Absolutely no registrations will be allowed after this deadline. The unique venue for this event requires that additional information be provided for each participant (collected when you purchase your ticket). This information is a requirement of Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center (CAJMTC) and your information will be shared with Military Police and the Range Control office. Your information will not be used in any manner other than to allow your admittance to the installation and to contact you regarding this event. Pre-registration is required so that we can forward your information to CAJMTC in time for the event. You are also responsible for reading the below additional range information specific to Camp Atterbury. Please keep in mind that we are using a military facility and military rules and discipline are in force. Camp Atterbury is an active military installation\, as such we may have our scheduled access removed as late as the day before the event. If that happens (it has not in the past) we will contact all participants to reschedule for a later date or issue a refund. \nRefund Policy\nRefunds will only be issued for this event due to weather or cancellation of the event by military authorities. Absolutely no refunds will be given for any other reason. \nAdditional Range Information\nThere are some things about shooting at Camp Atterbury that you should be aware of\, please read the following carefully: \n\nStart time—check-in is at 7:30 AM Eastern Standard Time/Eastern Daylight Time. For those in most of Indiana\, this is 7:30 AM. For those coming from the Central time zone\, it’s 6:30 AM. Safety briefing is at 8:00 AM Eastern time\, sharp. We will not wait to get started. The day will be long and we can’t afford to lose time here.\nCAJMTC firearms policy—NO FIREARMS are permitted beyond the rifle(s) you declare when you purchase your ticket to be used on the range for this event. This means concealed carry is NOT allowed. If you or your vehicle are searched\, your rifle(s) submitted at the time of ticket purchase is all that will be allowed on base. If any sidearms or non-declared long arms are discovered\, you will be turned away if not detained by Military Police and your event fees will not be refunded.\nA total of 250-300 rounds of the same ammunition will be required; i.e. all the same ammo brand\, bullet type and weight.  Plan to carry 150+ rounds on you each day.\nThe elements/weather—the known distance ranges are not sheltered in any way. If it’s sunny\, you will be out in the sun. If raining\, you’ll be out in the rain. Bring what’s appropriate for you and the forecasted weather. Layered clothing is best so that you can adjust to the changing temps. Events are not canceled due to the weather (exception with extreme weather only; i.e. tornado\, severe storm/lightning). Do not bring portable shelter as the firing line will be moving frequently.\nEquipment—sling\, shooting mat (if desired\, but see “Additional Recommendations” below)\, high powered binoculars or scope\, at least two magazines\, a way to take notes\, ear and eye protection. Please note that ear and eye protection are required.  Keep in mind that you will be walking several miles each day\, and just ask yourself “is this item really worth lugging that far?”\nHydration—make sure to bring enough water/Gatorade/etc. to stay hydrated. It might be cool early in the day but the wind can take it out of you as fast as the heat.\nFood—there will be a designated time for lunch and history. Please bring what food you need. Leaving base for lunch is not an option and we will continue without anyone who is late returning from lunch. If everyone brings food that can be eaten on the fly\, all the better.\nDirections from the gate to the range control building—essentially\, you continue through the cantonment area on the road you came in on. You will come to a stop sign across from the fire department. Range control is on your left.\nA $10.00 per day range fee payable cash is required at check-in from each person attending.  This is in addition to your ticket price and is collected directly by Camp Atterbury.\nYou will be moving all your equipment between each firing point\, all day. If you have a disability or require assistance to stay on your feet\, let us know before signing up and we will try our utmost to work with you.\n\nAdditional Recommendations\nFinally\, some notes from experience: \n\nIt can always rain in Indiana and rain gear is light\, bring it.  Rifles are not made of sugar\, and they won’t melt if they get wet.\nA shooting mat should be a mat\, not a tarp. Tarps blow around\, require folding\, collect rain. We cannot have folks pitching a campsite every 100 yds. The U. S. Army has provided grass at each firing distance and you do not have to carry it. Leave the mat at home if you can and enjoy nature.\nWater is your first best friend\, start drinking an extra quart a day two days in advance. Bring at least two quarts each morning to the range.\nPower bars or energy bars are your second best friend\, bring several.\nA mesh or light cloth bag for collecting brass is very helpful. Snag an old pillow case when the spouse isn’t looking.\nYou can get sunburned in the winter.  Sunscreen and chapstick are light and easy to use.  A hat with a bill rocks.\nA clean rag is priceless when you need it.\nYour rifle will get dirty\, rained on\, and scratched. Leave the safe queen at home\, this event is for rifles you mean to shoot.\nDon’t bring cheap ammo for sighters and expensive ammo for score. Yes\, it has happened; no\, it didn’t end well.\nMake sure your scope or sights are tight and locktite was used. We have seen scopes fall off rifles. More than once.\nMake your lunch light and nutritious; this is not the place for Snoballs and Diet Coke.\nDress as if you will be doing landscaping work all day and your spouse will not let you back in the house until dark. Toss in rain gear and you will be fine.\n\nSeriously… \nBring everything you need and nothing you will not use. \nOvernight Accommodations\nCamp Atterbury has civilian overnight accommodations at very reasonable rates. For more information\, rates and reservations\, please contact Camp Atterbury Lodging. \nEvent Sponsor\n\n\n3M Peltor has graciously provided Revere’s Riders with Peltor LiteCom Plus communications headsets for use at this event. These headsets incorporate radios allowing wearers to communicate with each other via their headsets. Extremely convenient for ranges where the target line is manned like Camp Atterbury.

SUMMARY:MBA -- Fox Den Overnight
DESCRIPTION:This is designed to be a practice / training overnight hike out to the Fox Den Shelter. I have a couple new gear items I want to test before the through hike later in the month. \nThis will be an out and back hike. There are a lot of options for hike distance because of the shortcuts / parking options. I think there is a hike option here for anyone who wants to attend. \nDepending on who signs up and how many miles they want to do\, final plans and timing are TBD. We can either all start at the same place\, all meet at the shelter\, or try to meet along the trail. \nDistances can be 5\, 10\, 12\, or 15 miles.

SUMMARY:IYAK -- White River - Broad Ripple to Downtown
DESCRIPTION:Trip Difficulty: Easy. This is great for beginners\, guests wanting to give IYAK a try\, and those in the mood for a more ‘urban’ paddling experience. Urban as it is however – you’ll be surprised by the natural beauty of this stretch of the mighty White! \nIt’s a great trip – relatively short at about 2-3 hours with few obstacles and little fast water – but the scenery and landmarks are great. \nWe’ll put in at the north end of Cornell Street in Broad Ripple (along the Monon Trail – just a few blocks north of the Rusted Moon). There is a nice ramp there with ample parking. We’ll take out at the Lake Indy boat ramp in Riverside Park – near 26th Street. \nAlong the way\, we’ll pass under several bridges at College\, Meridian\, Kessler Blvd \, Michigan Road\, 38th Street\, I-65\, and 29th Street. We’ll also pass Holiday Park\, Butler University\, Newfields (Art Museum)\, and many other familiar Indy Landmarks. \nWe’re going to leave our vehicles at the top in Broad Ripple rather than Riverside park for security reasons. At the end of the trip – you can stay with your boat – and the drivers will grab an Uber back up to Broad Ripple to get cars and come down to collect the boats at Riverside Park – so bring a couple of bucks to split the Uber. \nSince we’re doing our vehicle shuttling at the end of the trip – we’ll cast off from Broad Ripple at 1:00 sharp on Sunday – so be there early enough to get your gear ready to set sail. \nFor anybody interested we will head to the White River Yacht Club afterward for a sandwich and perhaps an adult beverage. \nSuggested items to bring: Wide brimmed hat\, sun block\, hand sanitizer\, sunglasses\, large sponge\, bilge pump or container to bail out water\, water\, snacks\, weather radio\, towel\, change of clothes\, water shoes\, paddling gloves\, rain gear\, bug spray\, safety whistle\, drybags\, Ziplock bags\, camera\, binoculars\, rope\, headlamp or flashlight\, a sense of adventure\, and a good dose of humor. \n*Remember\, the new IYAK policy is all participants MUST wear a PFD while on the water. \nTrip Leader: Jay and Julie Beattey (317)[masked]. \nThis trip may be changed or cancelled due to weather or water conditions. \nWhen you RSVP please answer ALL of the questions. \n***********************************************************************WAIVER AND RELEASE FROM LIABILITY FOR KAYAKING\, CANOEING AND ALL OTHER ACTIVITIESBy RSVPing to\, and attending this event you acknowledge you have read and agree to IYAK’s Waiver of Liability: https://www.meetup.com/IYAK-Indiana-Kayakers/pages/25179426/Liability_Waiver/

SUMMARY:IYAK -- Moonlight Paddle at Brush Creek Reservoir
DESCRIPTION:Trip Difficulty: Easy (Beginner to Advanced Skills) \nWe’re heading back to a small\, but scenic lake under the light of the Flower moon. Brush Creek Reservoir is located about 1:15 southeast of Indy and 30 minutes south of Greensburg. \nHere is the map link: https://goo.gl/maps/gtxYb3NHkdw\nWe will meet at the Boat Ramp at 6:00pm and plan to be on the water by 6:30pm. From there we will paddle around the lake for 3+ hours. We’ve always seen several eagles here in the past. It’s a nice lake with very little boat traffic. The military uses some of the adjacent land for training so we might see some of that. If not we may be able to check out the training village. Sunset is at 8:55pm and moonrise is nearly the same time. That means we should have good light the entire time we’re on the water if there aren’t any clouds. \nCarpool/Caravan Info: For those who want to carpool or caravan we will meet at Focus Therapeutic Massage\, 8711 Southeastern Ave. Be ready to depart @ 3:15pm. We will stop for a quick bite on the way down. \nRENTALS: For Kayak rental reservations with Freedom Kayak Adventures\, call[masked]. Prices to rent for this trip are $50 for singles\, $60 for tandems. \nSuggested items to bring: Wide brimmed hat\, sun block\, hand sanitizer\, sunglasses\, large sponge\, bilge pump or container to bail out water\, water\, snacks\, towel\, change of clothes\, water shoes\, paddling gloves\, rain gear\, bug spray\, safety whistle\, camera\, flashlight/headlamp\, a sense of adventure\, and a good dose of humor. SUMMARY:HOAG -- (Short Notice) Day Hike at Cataract Falls and McCormick's Creek
DESCRIPTION:This is a joint trip with the Indy On Fire Group. \nJoin us on a hike at Cataract falls. (http://www.onsitear.com/CataractFalls/) We’ll start at the upper falls\, cross the covered bridge\, hike out onto the falls\, and then hike down below the falls. This is one of the few places where you can actually hike underneath a waterfall and look out from behind the falls! We’ll hike back to the cars and drive to the Lower falls. We’ll hike around on the lower falls for a little bit and then head to McCormick’s Creek (http://www.in.gov/dnr/parklake/2978.htm). \nMcCormick’s Creek is one of my favorite places to hike in this state. We’ll start by doing trail 3 which actually follows the creek. Wear shoes that can get wet. We’ll also check out the waterfall from above and below. If everyone is up for it\, there are plenty of other trails to check out. I would consider trails at both places to be moderate to rugged in rating. This will be a few miles of hiking. \nI am a fan of punctuality. Please be respectful of everyone’s time and arrive on time if you are going to meet us. \nCarpool from the WalMart Super Center (4650 S Emerson Ave\, Indianapolis) leaves promptly at 9:00AM. We will meet in the spaces by the retention pond. A picture will be in the comments below. If you are riding in someone else’s car\, please chip in $5-10 for gas. \nThe trip to Cataract Falls takes 1 hour from WalMart in normal traffic. We will meet in the Upper Falls parking lot. The first hike begins at 10:15 AM. We’ll probably spend an hour or so hiking here. \nThe trip from Cataract Falls to McCormick’s Creek takes 24 minutes. \nIndiana DNR charges a $7 entry fee at Cataract Falls and McCormick’s Creek unless you have an annual pass. I have one\, but I would ask that other people also bring theirs so we can all get in for ‘free’. If no one in the car has a pass\, please split the entry fee among all occupants. \nWhat to bring?Hat\, sunscreen\, bug spray\, shoes that can get wet\, and a dry pair of shoes if desired.Water (2-3 liters is probably a good idea)\, snacks for the trail\, and a bag lunch.Cash if you are a carpool rider or sharing the entry fee.A good attitude and flexibility! \nCataract Falls: 2605 N Cataract Rd\, Spencer\, IN 47460 (http://www.onsitear.com/CataractFalls/)McCormick’s Creek: 250 McCormick’s Crk Park Rd\, Spencer IN\, 47460 (http://www.in.gov/dnr/parklake/2978.htm)

SUMMARY:RR -- Free Rifle 125 (Basic Rifle) – Two Day (Richmond\, IN)
DESCRIPTION:This will be a special event sponsored by A&A Optics; attend both days of the event and A&A Optics will reimburse your ticket cost making the event FREE! \nRifle 125 (Basic Rifle) Overview\nPrerequisites: None \nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 200 rounds/day. \nRifle Requirements: You will need a safe rifle chambered in your preferred caliber (loaner rifles are generally available; if you need a loaner rifle\, please indicate such when filling out your ticket information). Magazine-fed semi-automatic rifles generally work best for our classes\, but any other type of rifle (tube-fed semi-automatic\, lever-action\, bolt-action\, etc.) can be used as well. Bring whatever rifle you have and we will work with you. \nSome events will have caliber limitations due to restrictions imposed upon us by the range hosting the event. \nRequired Equipment: You should plan to bring the following equipment to the event: \n\nat least two magazines for your rifle\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)\n\nIt is helpful that all ammunition be of the same type (i.e. same weight\, manufacturer\, etc) for this event. Our volunteers have identified several accessories that may be helpful at this type of event. Shooting will primarily be at 25 yards. At some facilities\, it may be possible to move out to longer distances\, but a rimfire rifle should be just fine for all activities. \nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\nsling for your rifle (a US GI sling is preferred; loaner slings are typically available at the event)\nshooting mat\, carpet remnant or similar\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nOverview: This is our signature offering\, based on traditional American riflecraft that teaches “Hits Count!” It is appropriate for a wide breadth of student skill levels. This course lays a sound foundation for students to shoot groups under time pressure from a variety of practical field positions. Rifle 125 includes classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles. Students learn: \n\nRules for safe gun handling & range rules\nRifle parts and operation & ammunition\nShooting fundamentals: Five steps to firing each shot\nNatural Point of Aim\nShooting from the prone\, standing and sitting/kneeling positions to include use of the sling\nIntroduction to Sight Adjustments and basic calculation of minutes of angle\n25 Yard “Morgan’s 13” Classifier\n25 Yard Rifle Qualifier\nTwo Day Only: Intermediate calculation of minutes of angle for precise sight adjustments at all ranges\nTwo Day Only: Introduction to Field Shooting\, to include basic ballistics and live firing to longer distances (if the range facility permits)\nTwo Day Only: As time allows\, there may be additional opportunities to engage in challenging competitions to include the Rifle Qualifier\, Classic Carbine Qualification\, Battle Rattle\, and/or Field Shoot\n\nThe Midnight Ride of Paul Revere\nHear the true story of Paul Revere’s famous ride and learn about the events that immediately precipitated the Revolutionary War. Paul Revere did not ride alone – many individuals played crucial roles in the events of April 19th\, 1775. \nThis history presentation begins with alarm riders warning “the Regulars are out!” You’ll hear about the dramatic stand on Lexington Green and the “shots heard ’round the world” at Concord’s North Bridge. The tale concludes with harrowing life-or-death choices made along the 17 mile “battle road.” \nThis exciting tale will be woven throughout the day’s marksmanship events. \nLunch\nAlan would like everyone to know that his Boy Scout troop will be cooking hot dogs and burgers at the event for a nominal additional cost (exact details on what will be available will be provided closer to the event). Get a hot lunch and help out the Boy Scouts! \nEvent Sponsor\n\n\n \n\n\nA&A Optics is graciously sponsoring this event and will reimburse each participant for their ticket purchase provided they attend both days of the event.

SUMMARY:HHC -- training hike HHC "Run w/the Foxes!" 5k-8m-10m-13.1m run/volunteer/sweep+de-flag
DESCRIPTION:https://www.hoosierhikerscouncil.org/run-with-the-foxes/\n[link has directions at bottom] \nRunners/hikers — well\, you’re just doing it *because*\, right? Sure. We know. \nBut “Volunteers!!” Volunteers receive bad food\, mumbled compliments from out-of-breath runners\, lower back pain from too much standing\, possibly poison ivy\, definite exposure to tick-borne illness\, AND the coolest of tech-shirts *designed*by* MBA member Terz! How’s THAT for a bargain?? If you come out on course with me (to Sweep and De-Flag the whole business)\, you’ll have an excuse to speed-hike ≥13.1 miles in 80°F humidity!!! WOOT!!! (You can’t get much better training for summer than that\, can you?!? No!) \nWhether you’re going to run\, work an aid station\, or sweep\, ‘sign up’ here so we know to look for you and send a shout-out on course. If you’re desiring to volunteer\, please indicate that too — we’ll need to cap that [at 6?] so we don’t overwhelm HHC with good intentions. \nFWIW\, last year’s run was also in 80°F weather and I finished sweep/de-flag duties gloriously covered in salt — it set me up for a *fine* and fit summer of training. I’m expecting the same on Saturday. \nAny questions: sing out!

SUMMARY:IYAK -- Two Hour Tuesday - Eagle Creek Reservoir Biweekly Paddle
DESCRIPTION:Two Hour Tuesday \nEagle Creek Reservoir \nBiweekly Paddle \nLevel: Easy – Beginner or Intermediate or Advanced (multiple groups). \nKayak or SUP! Paddling isn’t just for the weekends! \nThis event is a part of our weekly paddling series. \nFrom Spring thru Fall\, every other Tuesday\, we meet for an evening of fun\, social and/or fitness paddling. On this Tuesday\, we’ll be out on Eagle Creek Reservoir\, while on the alternating Thursdays\, we’ll be out on Geist Reservoir. \nThis event’s levels are great for families\, beginners and the seasoned paddler. We usually have a large turnout and possibly split into smaller groups\, focusing on beginners\, fitness\, or those just out for a steady paddling pace. \nWe will be meeting at the Dandy Trail boat ramp\, located about a block north of Rick’s Cafe Boatyard\, every other Tuesday evening at 6:00pm\, launch at 6:30pm and plan to be off the water by 8:30pm. We usually go out to dinner as a group afterward. \nThe boat ramp entrance fee is $5\, cash only. You can optionally purchase yearly passes. \nIf you don’t need to drop off a boat at the ramp there is a free parking lot between Rick’s and the boat ramp. If you park here you’ll have to walk about 100 yards to get to the launch site. \nSuggested items to bring: Kayak or SUP\, paddle\, PFD\, wide brimmed hat\, sun block\, hand sanitizer\, sunglasses\, large sponge\, bilge pump or container to bail out water\, water\, snacks\, weather radio\, towel\, change of clothes\, water shoes\, paddling gloves\, rain gear\, bug spray\, safety whistle\, drybags\, Ziplock bags\, camera\, binoculars\, rope\, headlamp or flashlight\, a sense of adventure\, and a good dose of humor. \nFor clothing try to use something other than cotton\, especially if the weather is cool. SUMMARY:IYAK -- Deer Creek - Camden to Delphi
DESCRIPTION:Trip Difficulty: Moderate. Can be some strainers and other hazards on the creek. If the water is flowing swiftly good boat handling skills may be required so this is not recommended for anybody with zero experience. On our first trip down this creek nearly half of the paddlers ended up in the water at one time or another. \nHopefully the air will be warm and the water running. What a great combination for a fun paddle down Deer Creek. Located about 20 miles northeast of Lafayette\, this is a very scenic and interesting stream. The creek has plenty of curves and ripples to make it a bit more challenging than some\, with some boulders and trees thrown in to make it even more interesting.\nSince it is a stream we will have to arrange to have vehicles at the takeout point to take us back to the starting point. Try to get there on early so we can unload our boats & gear and then shuttle as many vehicles to the take out as possible. We should be able to be on the water by noon\, hopefully sooner. Bring some food and we’ll have lunch along the river. This trip is about 11-12 miles long and should last 4-5 hours. We will put-in at the SR 75 bridge just south of Camden and take-out at the city park in Delphi. The Googlemaps url for the route to the put-in site is: http://goo.gl/maps/QS3fY \nPost-paddling activities: For anybody interested we will stop at a restaurant for dinner on the way back. \nSuggested items to bring: Wide brimmed hat\, sun block\, hand sanitizer\, sunglasses\, large sponge\, bilge pump or container to bail out water\, water\, snacks\, weather radio\, towel\, change of clothes\, water shoes\, paddling gloves\, rain gear\, bug spray\, safety whistle\, drybags\, Ziplock bags\, camera\, binoculars\, rope\, headlamp or flashlight\, a sense of adventure\, and a good dose of humor.\nFor clothing try to use something other than cotton\, especially if the weather is cool. Polypropylene or polyester are good choices since neither holds water and they wick moisture away from you. \n*Remember\, the new IYAK policy is all participants MUST wear a PFD while on the water. \nIf anybody needs to rent a kayak contact Freedom Kayak Adventures at[masked]. Cost for rentals will be $55 for single seat kayaks and $65 for a tandem. \nCarpool/Caravan Site: Anybody wanting to meet on the southeast side of Indy meet at Focus Therapeutic Massage\, 8711 Southeastern Avenue\, 46239. We will be leaving there around 8:30am. If anybody else wants to set up another carpool site please post a comment below. \nTrip Leader: Paul Hilton (317)[masked]. \nThis trip may be changed or cancelled due to weather or water conditions. \nWhen you RSVP please answer ALL of the questions. \n***********************************************************************\nWAIVER AND RELEASE FROM LIABILITY FOR KAYAKING\, CANOEING AND ALL OTHER ACTIVITIES\nBy RSVPing to\, and attending this event you acknowledge you have read and agree to IYAK’s Waiver of Liability: https://www.meetup.com/IYAK-Indiana-Kayakers/pages/25179426/Liability_Waiver/
