SUMMARY:RR -- Battle Road Biathlon – One Day (Bedford\, IN)
DESCRIPTION:Battle Road Biathlon℠ Overview\nThe Battle Road Biathlon is an entry-level competitive event\, as opposed to an instructional clinic like most other Revere’s Riders events.  It has proven to be a challenging and fun time for men and women ages 13-60+ that  demands precision shooting under physical and mental pressure. Deceptively simple in design\, the course should put the participant in a physiological and psychological state “similar” to the colonial militia units on April 19\, 1775 as they desperately sought to effectively engage the “Lobsterbacks” before they could return to the safety of Boston. \nPrerequisites: Suggested—Rifle 125 or similar class. \nIf you have not attended Rifle 125\, then you should be able to reliably hit a 10 MOA target from the standing position\, a 7.5 MOA target from seated and 4 MOA target from prone and should be familiar with basic operation of your rifle. If you cannot meet the accuracy suggestion then you may be frustrated at this event and be better served learning the fundamentals of marksmanship at a Rifle 125 clinic. \nYou should be in reasonably-good health with the ability to run/hike 3/4 mile segments (x4) over varied unpaved terrain. \nRifle and Ammunition Required: A safe and reliable rifle chambered in .22 LR and 15 rounds of reliable .22 LR ammunition. Bringing extra ammunition is always a good idea! \nRequired Equipment: The following equipment is required to participate: \n\nsafe and reliable .22 LR rifle with sights of your choosing (optics or irons) sighted in at 35m (no other caliber will be permitted due to the exclusive design of our proprietary reactive targets)\nat least one and preferably three magazines for your rifle\nhearing protection\neye protection\nappropriate footwear with toe protection: either running shoes\, trail running shoes or hiking boots are recommended.  Sandals or flip-flops would not be appropriate or safe.\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nlunch (leaving the range for lunch is not feasible)\nsnacks\n\nOptional Equipment: In addition\, the following equipment is recommended for this event but not required: \n\nsling for your rifle (this will be a shooting aid ONLY; you will NOT be running/walking with your rifle)\nshooting mat\nsunscreen\nbug repellant\nhat with a brim\nfolding chair\n\nProhibited Equipment: The following equipment WILL NOT BE ALLOWED at this event: \n\nrifle chambered for any caliber other than .22 LR\n\nEvent Details\nOn April 19th\, 1775\, colonial militia companies from Massachusetts and surrounding colonies mustered and sent men to defend Lexington\, Concord and Menotomy from regular British troops who were attempting to destroy arms and powder of the “rebels” stored in Concord. In order to close with and engage the Redcoats before they could return to the safety of their base in Boston\, militia units had to move with urgency and purpose on Battle Road\, as well as other routes. When they did get within range of the Redcoats\, they had to use practiced marksmanship skills to hit their targets. This event will involve moving with urgency and purpose and then quickly transitioning to controlled breathing (and holding still!) while shooting with an elevated heart and respiratory rate. As on April 19th\, 1775\, only hits count! Competitors will shoot .22 rimfire rifles from three positions; standing\, seated and prone at reactive targets 35 meters (38.28 yards) away. Targets will be in three different sizes: \n\nStanding 4.485″ (12.27 MOA)\nSeated/Kneeling 3.12″ (8.53 MOA)\nProne 1.755″ (4.5 MOA)\n\nShooters/Runners/Walkers will each have an individually-assigned firing point and target. After each stage\, rifles will be cleared\, made safe and grounded at the firing points; you will NOT be running/walking with your rifle. \nCourse of Fire\nYou will use a total of 15 rounds; 3 magazines of 5 rounds each is recommended\, but you may use 1 magazine and load it 3 times with 5 rounds at a time. There will be 4 running/walking loops of 1.25K (3/4 mile) each\, for a total of 5K. It will be the same loop each time. These loops will be on unimproved trails through hilly woods and fields. There may be some natural obstacles such as logs or ditches\, but there will be no climbing or crawling. You may either run or walk. In between each running/walking loop is a shooting stage. The reactive targets\, which are plain black bullseyes\, will be in three rows of five targets in each row. Five shots will be taken in each of the three positions\, one shot per target. You either hit it\, or miss it (“Hits Count!”). The reactive target disks turn from black to white to indicate a hit. After shooting each stage\, and clearing/safing/grounding his/her rifle\, the competitor does a separate approximately 125 meter penalty loop for each miss before going back out on the 1.25K loop. The event will progress in the following manner: \n\nSquad start (competitors will start in squads of 8 at the same time)\nRun/walk 1.25K loop\nShoot unsupported standing one shot at each of five targets (top row)\nClear\, make safe and ground rifle\nRun/walk penalty loop once for each missed target\nRun/walk 1.25K loop\nShoot unsupported seated/kneeling (shooter choice) one shot at each of five targets (middle row)\nClear\, make safe and ground rifle\nRun/walk penalty loop once for each missed target\nRun/walk 1.25K loop\nShoot unsupported prone one shot at each of five targets (bottom row)\nClear\, make safe and ground rifle\nRun/walk penalty loop once for each missed target\nRun/walk 1.25K loop\nFinish\n\nThere will not be any traditional target scoring; either you hit the target or you miss it (“Hits Count!”). Since the penalty for missing is running/walking extra distance\, the winner will be determined by time only. After the last competitor from squad #1 finishes\, the targets will be reset and squad #2 will get ready.  Then\, while squad#2 is on the course\, the competitors from squad#1 are encouraged to stay for the famous Bedford fellowship and to cheer on the other competitors.  However\, participants who have finished are not required to stay for the entire day and may leave if necessary. Depending upon the number of registrants\, we may have up to 3 squads.  For those who stay until the last squad finishes\, we will have an awards ceremony\, pictures and some final brief words by the event director. Here is a video of a previous competitor shooting the seated stage.  This will give you an idea of what to expect from the shooting portion.  Note that this shooter previously scored at the Master level on the Revere’s Riders full distance (100-400 yards) “KD”qualifier! Download practice targets here. \nAdditional Event Information\nTicket price includes all range fees. \nAdditional Range Information\nThe Bedford Contingent is South Central Indiana’s Premier Shooting Facility. Located just north of Bedford\, Indiana\, “The BC” features a 300-yd rifle range\, a large\, comfortable fully-enclosed building for meetings\, and is available year-round for public and private events. Primitive camping available (please reserve ahead of time\, donation appreciated)\, porta-potties and potable water on-site.

SUMMARY:RR -- Inaugural Marty Brown Memorial Open (Bedford\, IN)
DESCRIPTION:Marty Brown Memorial Open Overview\nThe Marty Brown Memorial Open™ event honors Marty Brown\, an instructor with Revere’s Riders who lost a 40-month battle with ovarian cancer in 2017.  You can read more about Marty as well as Ovar’coming Together on the Marty Brown Memorial™ page of our website. \n50% of ticket revenue (after deduction of range fees and lunch costs) will be donated to Ovar’coming Together to assist in their programs to support women diagnosed with ovarian cancer as well as funding ovarian cancer research. This course is appropriate for a wide breadth of student skill levels and lays a sound foundation for students to shoot groups under time pressure from a variety of practical stances and field positions. \nPlease review the Pistol 100 and Rifle 125 course descriptions for an overview of topics that will be covered over the weekend. \nPrerequisites: None \nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 250 rounds each of pistol and rifle ammunition (500 total). \nPistol Requirements: You will need a safe pistol with at least five round capacity to fully participate in this course. Pistols should be of a modern\, drop safe design. \nOlder single action pistols manufactured before the 1980s and lacking a transfer bar safety are the most common type of pistol that lack drop safe design features\, as do some military surplus imports from Eastern bloc countries and Taurus PT-series pistols not fixed during an international safety recall in 2015. These pistols may discharge if dropped and pose a potential safety hazard to our volunteers and students\, and are not permitted. If you have concerns about the safety features of your pistol you should have it inspected by an armorer or gunsmith before class. \nRifle Requirements: You will need a safe rifle chambered in your preferred caliber. Magazine-fed semi-automatic rifles generally work best for our classes\, but any other type of rifle (tube-fed semi-automatic\, lever-action\, bolt-action\, etc.) can be used as well. Bring whatever rifle you have and we will work with you. \nRequired Equipment: You should plan to bring the following equipment to the event: \n\nat least two magazines for your rifle\nat least two magazines for your pistol\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)\n\nIt is helpful that all ammunition be of the same type (i.e. same weight\, manufacturer\, etc) for this event. Our volunteers have identified several accessories that may be helpful at this type of event: \n\npistol accessories\nrifle accessories\n\nRifle shooting will primarily be at 25 yards. Pistol shooting will primarily be at 7 yards. Rimfire pistols and/or rifles will be perfectly suitable for this event. \nWe will not be drawing from the holster in this class and we will run a “cold range.” You will not need a holster to participate in the class activities. \nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\nsling for your rifle (a US GI sling is preferred; loaner slings are typically available at the event)\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nshooting mat\, carpet remnant or similar\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nLoaner Firearms: loaner firearms suitable for use at this event are generally available but limited. Please contact the Event Director if you would like to request a loaner firearm. \nAdditional Range Information\nYour ticket price includes all range fees and lunch. \nSpectators are welcome but will be asked to remain a safe distance from the firing line (ear protection is required for all spectators; eye protection is optional). Additional lunch tickets will be sold for $10/person on the day of the event. \nOvernight Accommodations\n\nA block of rooms are available at the Holiday Inn Express in Bedford\, IN (about 15 minutes south of the range). Call the hotel directly (812-279-1206) and ask for one of the rooms reserved for “Revere’s Riders/Marty Brown Memorial Open”. The block of rooms will only be held until July 15th; after that\, the rooms will be made available to the general public. \nEvent Sponsors\nWe would like to thank the following event sponsors for their generosity in helping to make this event possible. \n\n\n\n\n\nLWRC International\n\n\n\n\n\nGun Storage Solutions\n\n\n\n\n\nProMag/Archangel\n\n\n\n\n\nIWI\n\n\n\n\n\nPremier Arms\n\n\n\n\n\nGun Tote’n Mamas\n\n\n\n\n\nCrossbreed Holsters\n\n\n\n\n\nBrownells\n\n\n\n\n\nA&A Optics\n\n\n\n\n\nClenzoil\n\n\n\n\n\nGander Outdoors\n\n\n\n\n\nAmerica’s Gunsmith Shop\n\n\n\n\n\nKitanica\n\n\n\n\n\nDaniel Defense\n\n\n\n\n\nUM Tactical\n\n\n\n\n\nHodgdon Powder Co.\n\n\n\n\n\nWalkers\n\n\n\n\n\nATI Outdoors\n\n\n\n\n\nMagpul\n\n\n\n\n\nWilson Combat\n\n\n\n\n\nSIG Sauer\n\n\n\n\n\nOntario Knife Co\n\n\n\n\n\nCVA\n\n\n\n\n\nSCCY\n\n\n\n\n\nWalther\n\n\n\n\n\nVortex Optics\n\n\n\n\n\nHiding Hilda\n\n\n\n\n\nTaurus\n\n\n\n\n\nD&E Printing\n\n\n\n\n\nTimber Creek Outdoors\n\n\n\n\n\nRock River Arms\n\n\n\n\n\nVoodoo Tactical\n\n\n\n\n\nSafariland\n\n\n\n\n\nAlien Gear Holsters\n\n\n\n\n\nCrimson Trace\n\n\n\n\n\nHi-Point Firearms\n\n\n\n\n\nKestrel Meters\n\n\n\n\n\nMossberg\n\n\n\n\n\nColt\n\n\n\n\n\nAdco Sales\n\n\n\n\n\nPalmetto State Armory\n\n\n\n\n\nKelTec\n\n\n\n\n\nBenelli\n\n\n\n\n\nHenry Repeating Arms\n\n\n\n\n\nSpent Rounds Designs\n\n\n\n\n\nNine Line Apparel\n\n\n\n\n\nTarget Factory\n\n\n\n\n\nAguila Ammunition\n\n\n\n\n\nIndy Arms Company\n\n\n\nEva-Dry\n\n\n\n\n\nTed Nugent\n\n\n\n\n\nWindham Weaponry\n\n\n\n\n\nBravo Company Mfg

SUMMARY:RR--Rifle Qualification “Grinder” – One Day (Crawfordsville\, IN)
DESCRIPTION:Rifle Qualification “Grinder” Overview\nPrerequisites: Rifle 125 (or equivalent) required. \nEquipment: Bring at least 400 rounds of ammunition and a safe rifle (round count will depend on how many Rifle Qualifiers you shoot. You may shoot as much or as little as you want throughout the day\, but you may have the opportunity to shoot as many as 600+ rounds). Shooting will be at 25 yards. \nBring your centerfire rifle\, rimfire rifle\, carbine\, bolt-action\, automatic\, with open sights\, a scope\, a red dot or all of the above if you want. \nOverview: This is a new event offering for those that have attended our Rifle 125 and wish to continue working on their marksmanship skills. We will be running our 25 yard Rifle Qualifier throughout the day without the usual instruction and history that is common to our other events. Except for a quick rifle zeroing target in the morning\, this event will be back-to-back 25 yard Rifle Qualifiers. \nThis is your opportunity to work on earning a rifle patch or improve upon the patch you earned at a previous Rifle 125 event. This is also a good opportunity to test your skills with a different rifle\, or a different sight\, or left handed\, or in different clothing\, or… ? \nAdditional Event Information\nYou are not required to stay the entire day (shoot just one Rifle Qualifier and call it “good enough” if that is what you want to do) but you MUST be present for the range safety instructions first thing in the morning. \n
