Kayak or SUP! Paddling isn’t just for the weekends!
This event is a part of our weekly paddling series.
From Spring thru Fall, every other Tuesday, we meet for an evening of fun, social and/or fitness paddling. On this Tuesday, we’ll be out on Eagle Creek Reservoir, while on the alternating Thursdays, we’ll be out on Geist Reservoir.
This event’s levels are great for families, beginners and the seasoned paddler. We usually have a large turnout and possibly split into smaller groups, focusing on beginners, fitness, or those just out for a steady paddling pace.
We will be meeting at the Dandy Trail boat ramp, located about a block north of Rick’s Cafe Boatyard, every other Tuesday evening at 6:00pm, launch at 6:30pm and plan to be off the water by 8:30pm. We usually go out to dinner as a group afterward.
The boat ramp entrance fee is $5, cash only. You can optionally purchase yearly passes.
If you don’t need to drop off a boat at the ramp there is a free parking lot between Rick’s and the boat ramp. If you park here you’ll have to walk about 100 yards to get to the launch site.
Suggested items to bring: Kayak or SUP, paddle, PFD, wide brimmed hat, sun block, hand sanitizer, sunglasses, large sponge, bilge pump or container to bail out water, water, snacks, weather radio, towel, change of clothes, water shoes, paddling gloves, rain gear, bug spray, safety whistle, drybags, Ziplock bags, camera, binoculars, rope, headlamp or flashlight, a sense of adventure, and a good dose of humor.
For clothing try to use something other than cotton, especially if the weather is cool. Polypropylene or polyester are good choices since neither holds water and they wick moisture away from you.
Rental Boats: If you need to rent a kayak, contact Freedom Kayak Adventures at[masked]. The cost for this event is $25 for a single seater and $35 for a tandem kayak.
Remember, IYAK requires everybody to wear a PFD while they are on the water. Safety first!
Event hosts reserve the right to cancel due to inclement weather. Any cancellation or adjustment to the schedule will be posted in this event’s message thread.
RSVP is per each event, not the entire summer.
